Presented by Kim Purvis:
Kim Purvis earned her undergraduate at the University of Illinois in Secondary Math Education. She taught math at Sterling High School for 8 years, and then earned her Master’s in Educational Administration through Western Illinois University in 2002. She served as Sterling High School Associate Principal for 3 years, Assistant Director of the Whiteside Area Career Center for 4 years, and the Director of the Whiteside Area Career Center for 4 years. As an administrator, Kim was responsible for teacher evaluations, professional development for educators, student discipline, grant writing, school budget, curriculum, and school improvement plans. Kim’s career highlight was program development at WACC. During her time at WACC, she played a crucial role in starting the CEO and Allied Health programs and revamping the Manufacturing, Early Childhood, and Commercial Food Service programs. Kim retired from Education in 2015 to become more involved with her family farm. Kim served on the Prophetstown School Board from 2017-2023, and currently serves on the Whiteside County Farm Service Agency Board. Kim is married with three children, ages 17, 21, and 24.
