Position Summary / Essential Functions:

Schedule Development & Management

    • Develop and publish daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
    • Optimize production sequences to minimize changeovers, maximize throughput, and ensure efficient utilization of machinery (e.g., roll formers, welding stations, assembly lines, and crating).
    • Adjust schedules proactively in response to unforeseen events such as material shortages, equipment breakdowns, quality issues, parts orders, or expedited customer requests.

Material Coordination

    • Collaborate closely with the Purchasing and Inventory Control teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
    • Monitor material readiness and communicate potential delays or impacts on the production schedule.

Capacity Planning

    • Work with Production Supervisors and the Supply Chain & Operations Manager to understand current and future production capabilities, labor availability, and equipment constraints.
    • Identify potential bottlenecks and propose solutions to optimize flow and meet production targets.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

    • Track and report on key production metrics, including schedule adherence, on-time delivery (OTD), production efficiency, and capacity utilization.
    • Analyze variances and root causes for deviations from the schedule.

Communication & Collaboration

    • Act as the central point of contact for production scheduling, effectively communicating schedule plans, changes, and impacts to Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Purchasing departments.
    • Facilitate daily/weekly production meetings to review schedules, address issues, and align departmental efforts.

Continuous Improvement

    • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance scheduling processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall operational efficiency.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation and workflow.

      • Possess strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes within a manufacturing environment.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex/incomplete data.
      • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
      • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
      • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.

Job Type: Full-time / Salary

Pay: $50,000-75,000

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Experience

Required
  • 3 - 5 years: 3-5+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.
Preferred
  • Experience in the garage door or rolling steel industry is a strong plus.

Education

Required
  • High School or better
